W4: "An Alien Has Landed in My Backyard"
It was a quiet night, I had woken up to go to the toilet. Just as I went back to bed, I heard an unusual sound from the backyard. I felt curious, so I slowly opened the back door and glanced out. In the weak moonlight, I saw a little figure moving suspiciously.
At first, I thought it was a thief. But as the figure
approached, I realised it was something much beyond my imagination, an alien!
He was only around 80cm tall, with a slightly rounded body, a large head, big
eyes, long ears, and a tiny mouth. His body emitted a gentle light which could
change colours. He looked lost and afraid, his eyes darting about nervously. Hence,
I guessed he had landed on Earth by accident and had no idea how to turn back.
Despite my disbelief, I chose to interact with him. “Are you
alien? Why are you here?” I asked, but he seemed not to understand my language.
He responded in his language, but I didn’t understand it. I grabbed my phone
and showed him photos of planets and aliens. He nodded in answer.

I realised he had no place to go, so I let him inside my house.
As I showed him around my house, I observed that he was very interested in
apples. When I gave him one to eat, his glowing turned bright yellow, and I guessed
it was a sign of happiness. Later, I felt tired, so I decided to sleep, telling
him to stay silently in my room.
The next morning, I woke up and found him seated at my desk, browsing through my coursework. To my full surprise, he handed me my schoolwork, every subject, such as biology, physics, additional mathematics and programming, was completed with excellent answers!

At this moment, my mother
knocked on my door. The alien’s glow changed to green; he was afraid. Fortunately,
she just asked me to come down for breakfast. I noted that his glowing body
changed colour depending on his emotions. Then, I gave him several meals. But
he just presented interest in apples and ignored everything else.
After that, I introduced him to online games. He only
watched me play once, and then he understood how to play it even better than me…….
He was interested in human behaviour, often copying my movements such as
clapping, jumping, spinning and so on.
I decided to take him outdoors. To prevent suspicion, I
covered him with a jacket. As we walked, he observed people, copying their
gestures and actions. It was funny to see him try to walk like a human.
On our way home, we relaxed our guard. That’s when my
neighbour, Uncle Tan, a scientist, saw him. His face became serious as he ran
over. He told me aliens are dangerous and let me hand him over to him because
the government needed to investigate him.
I looked at my alien friend, who was trembling behind me. In
those few days, he never showed any sign of aggressiveness. I pleaded with
Uncle Tan to keep it a secret, but he only granted me until the next morning, after
he would report it.
That night, I struggled with a moral dilemma. Should I send
him to the government to ensure our safety, or should I keep him from being
caught and experimented on?
In the end, I decided to help him escape.
We sneaked away in the middle of the night, but Uncle Tan and his helpers knew about our leaving. They followed us until we reached an open area with nowhere to run. When we thought all hope was lost, the sky suddenly lighted up. An amazing spaceship appeared and landed with a loud sound. Then, two taller aliens appeared; they looked like his parents!

I quickly pushed him towards them and told him to run. His
glow became blue, looking like a sad emotion. He waved at me, copying the human
gesture for “goodbye”.
And with that, he was gone, back to his planet.
Every night after that time, I’ve looked up at the sky. There
is always one star that shines in multiple colours. I like to imagine it is him
saying hello from his planet.
